Welcome to the big white church on the corner of West Street and Lee Avenue. Here at First United Methodist Church (FUMC), we strive to reach out to our community to meet their needs where they are.
We provide Sunday School and a free breakfast for children and youth ages 3-17 every Sunday at 10 a.m. The last Sunday of the month we also offer a day of fellowship with movies, activities, snacks, and fun. Also, every summer we hold Vacation Bible School where our children can learn more about the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Sundays at FUMC are filled with activity. In addition to the children and youth Sunday School, there is Sunday School for adults at 10:30 a.m., followed by our weekly worship service at 11:30 a.m. We also offer an online service on our Weirton UM Charge YouTube channel.
However, our outreach is not limited to Sundays. Every Monday, FUMC hosts Table of Hope which serves a free hot meal to anyone in the community from 5-6 p.m. We also host AA meetings on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
We are aware of the economic hardships in our neighborhood, and for more than 30 years FUMC has operated a food pantry. Our pantry provides dry goods, canned goods, toiletries and cleaning items. And for the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter), our pantry puts together special food baskets with all the holiday trimmings. If you need food assistance or to request a holiday basket, please contact our church secretary at 304-748-6680.
